FSB makes donation to Hillsboro Athletic Program

FIRST STATE BANK DONATES $450 TOWARDS HILLSBORO ATHLETIC PROGRAM
Check Presentation Made at Indians Football Game on October 26th  

October 31, 2018 – The First State Bank team is pleased to announce the donation of $450 to the Hillsboro Athletic Program for the Fall sports season. The contribution towards the program was made at the Hillsboro football game on Friday, October 26, 2018.

The official check presentation was made between the first and second quarters of the game. The check was presented by Diana Grooms, Manager of the Hillsboro Banking Center to Dave Dietrick, Hillsboro Athletic Director and Nick Fite, Hillsboro Athletic Trainer. 

“As a local community bank, we are a proud supporter of Hillsboro Athletics”, said Diana Grooms. “We congratulate the Hillsboro Indians on a great season and we wish the team the best in the upcoming playoffs.”

Tim Grooms earns national certification from American Banking Association

LOCAL BANKING PROFESSIONAL EARNS NATIONAL CERTIFICATION

October 11, 2018 – The executive team at First State Bank is pleased to announce that Timothy Grooms, Chief Risk Officer, was recently awarded the Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP) designation from the American Bankers Association.

“Earning the CERP certification validates Tim’s experience and thorough understanding of the complexities of risk management,” said Mike Pell, President and CEO of First State Bank.

The CERP certification is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of bank enterprise risk management. To qualify for the CERP certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the risk management profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The CERP exam covers credit risk, financial risk and non-financial risk. 

Tim attended Northern Kentucky University, earning a Bachelor's of Organizational Studies with a concentration in Industrial Labor Relations and an Associate of Applied Science. He began his banking career in 2002, is a Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor (CCBIA) and has held positions as Controller, Compliance Officer, BSA/OFAC Officer, CRA Officer, Internal Auditor, Office Manager, Loan Clerk, and Teller.  As Chief Risk Officer, Tim is responsible for ensuring the bank maintains an adequate and effective Enterprise Risk Management program.  An Adams County resident, Tim serves as a director for the Ohio Bankers Foundation for Financial Literacy and participates in several community groups.

FSB celebrates ground breaking for future site of banking center in Wilmington

FIRST STATE BANK CELEBRATES CONSTRUCTION OF FUTURE BANKING CENTER
Groundbreaking Ceremony to Take Place on October 3 at 9 AM

October 2, 2018 – The First State Bank team is pleased to announce the groundbreaking for the future site of the Wilmington Banking Center. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on October 3rd at 9 am at the site of the new banking center located at 1584 Rombach Avenue. Several employees from First State Bank, local community leaders and elected officials are expected to attend.

Construction will begin in fall and the building is expected to be completed by the spring of next year.

Currently, the bank is located at 832 Rombach Avenue in the Donotos Plaza and is staffed by Wilmington residents, Joshua Martin, as the banking center manager and Danielle Cochran as Customer Service Representative. Additionally, Scott Holmer, Doug Henry and Amy Hamilton continue to lead business development.

On September 10, the Wilmington banking center began accepting deposits. In addition to its lending products and services, the bank will now accepts loan payments and offers a wide array of personal and business checking and savings accounts options.
