Mt. Orab Banking Center Coordinating “Giving Tree” for Local Community

October 31, 2016 – The team at First State Bank is teaming up with the Gingerbread House Daycare to coordinate the fourth annual “Giving Tree” Program in Mt. Orab. All are invited to stop into First State Bank located at 501 West Main Street in Mt. Orab to pick up an ornament from the Christmas Giving Tree. Each ornament contains a child’s name, their age and wish list.

First State Bank Celebrates Grand Opening of St. Bernard Banking Center

Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place on October 24th, 2016

October 17, 2016 – First State Bank is pleased to announce the grand opening of the St. Bernard Banking Center, located 4901 Vine Street. The bank will celebrate opening its doors in St. Bernard with a grand opening celebration and official ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, October 24 at 10 a.m. This date is a reschedule from the original date in August that was cancelled due to the flooding in the area.

“We are excited to officially celebrate the opening of First State Bank in St. Bernard,” said Mike Pell, President and CEO of First State Bank. “We thought this event would be a great opportunity to thank our new customers for their support and also invite the residents of St. Bernard to stop in and learn about the great products and services we have to offer,” said Pell.

First State Bank Supports Local Non-Profit Organizations Through Company-Wide Community Service Project

Nearly 100 FSB Employees Volunteer at Across Adams, Brown, Highland and Fayette Counties

October 12, 2016 – For the second year in a row, First State Bank implemented a company-wide initiative to “give back” to the communities it serves through employee volunteerism. Since January 2016, nearly 100 First State Bank employees have donated their time and talents to non-profit organizations across Adams, Brown, Highland and Fayette Counties.  The organizations selected as part of the program this year included:

Brown County:

  • The Veteran’s Home in Georgetown
  • Helping Hands in Mt. Orab

Adams County:

  • The Humane Society of Adams County in West Union
  • The “Blessings in a Backpack” Program through Church 180 in Seaman
  • Venture Productions in West Union

Highland County:

  • Samaritan Outreach in Hillsboro
  • Our Daily Bread through the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro

Fayette County:

  • The Well in Washington Court House

First State Bank Completes Merger With First Safety Bank

WINCHESTER, Ohio, August 8, 2016 – First State Bancorp, Inc., an Ohio Corporation headquartered in Winchester, Ohio, the holding company for First State Bank, announced today the completion of the merger with First Safety Bank, an Ohio State-chartered commercial bank headquartered in St. Bernard, Ohio. The First Safety Bank location at 455 Home Street in Georgetown is now closed and customers can visit the First State Bank location at 4928 State Route 125 in Georgetown. The First Safety Bank location in St. Bernard is now a First State Bank Banking Center.

First State Bank had approximately $390.2 million in assets, $239.4 million in loans, and $345.6 million in total deposits at June 30, 2016. First Safety Bank had approximately $47.9 million in assets, $29.3 million in loans, and $37.3 million in total deposits at June 30, 2016.

The merger with First Safety Bank provides First State Bank with the opportunity to expand its footprint into the St. Bernard market. The conversion process of transferring First Safety Bank accounts to First State Bank was completed over the weekend of August 6 and 7, 2016.

Performance Trust Capital Partners, LLC, served as financial advisor and Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP served as legal counsel to First State Bancorp, Inc. in the transaction. Austin Associates, LLC served as financial advisor and Dinsmore & Shohl LLP served as legal counsel to First Safety Bank.
